Amac introduces its own subscription for Apple products
Apple store Amac starts offering its own subscription to various Apple products. The intention is that customers return the device in question after two or three years, ultimately paying a lower price than the new price.
For the Amac subscription customers pay a fixed amount per month, after which they return the iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch after two years. For a MacBook, this is after three years. After the end of the subscription term, the customer ultimately paid the difference between the new value and the residual value of the device.
The returned iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and MacBooks are offered again by Amac as refurbished, if Apple still offers system support for the device. However, customers can also choose to keep the product. In that case, the monthly payment continues until the device is fully paid off.
As a calculation example, Amac gives an iPhone with a new value of 1,100 euros. After two years, the residual value is just over 360 euros. Through the subscription, the customer pays a total of 910 euros, including a fixed interest rate of 12 percent, spread over 24 months. Customers who want to keep the iPhone after the term will pay more. They pay a total of approximately 1270 euros over the entire term.
Accessories, such as phone cases, cables and bags, can also be added to the subscription for a fixed monthly amount. An amount of 1.50 euros per month is mentioned for an iPhone case as an illustration. These accessories do not have to be returned at the end of the term.
Amac collaborates with SprayPay for the subscription, a service that offers spread payments. Loans above 250 euros are registered with the BKR. For loans above 1,000 euros, verification is also required. Customers must then provide one or more pay slips.
