‘Twitter closes at least 12 offices’
Social media company Twitter is closing at least twelve offices worldwide and may want to continue with six offices in the future. Business Insider writes this based on sources within the company. It is unknown exactly which offices will be closed.
Some of the offices have already closed and Twitter plans to close several more in the coming weeks, writes Business Insider. A majority of offices in Europe are closing, as are offices in Mexico, India, Australia and South Korea, the release said. Employees had to leave the Singapore office on Wednesday evening local time because Twitter had not paid rent, writes Casey Newton. The overdue rent has now been paid.
In the future, Twitter may want to continue with six of its offices. In addition to the head office in San Francisco, there are offices in New York and Los Angeles in the US. Outside the US, this concerns the offices in London and Dublin in Europe and the office in the Japanese capital Tokyo. Twitter has not confirmed the information.
Closing offices is said to be part of the recent cost savings. The new owner of the social media company, Elon Musk, has already fired a large part of the staff since his takeover in October.
