Google Translate gets more context options for translations
Google Translate will have more extensive contextual options for translating texts. Specifically, it concerns words that can have multiple meanings. For the correct translation of those words, the app takes into account the context of the text to be translated.
Google Translate gives Starting this month, more context for words or sentences to be translated. The company gives an example of the English word ‘novel’. In English it can stand for a novel, but it can also mean something original or new. The app provides examples of this, including explanations, so that the correct translation can be used.
This expansion will be available in the coming weeks for the languages English, French, German, Japan and Spanish. Support for other languages will also be added in the coming months, although it is not clear which languages this will involve and when that will happen.
Furthermore, Google will implement a new design for the iOS version of Google Translate in the coming weeks, after the Android version previously only received a new design. The field for typing texts will be larger and elements such as voice input and translations via Lens should be more accessible.
