Fitbit acknowledges a malfunction that prevents users from syncing with the smartphone app
Fitbit has a malfunction that may prevent syncing between the smartwatch and the smartphone app. The company says it is working on a fix for the issue and recommends users try again “in a few hours.”
Due to the malfunction, users can view no or less data via the smartphone app and cannot sync with their smartwatch. This means they can see less information, for example about how they exercised. New users may also not be able to set up their smartwatch due to the glitch. Updating also fails.
On Twitter says Fitbit that there is indeed a problem. The company did not specify what the problem is, but said it was working on it. Users are advised to try to sync again ‘in a few hours’, which makes it seem as if the problem will not be resolved quickly. It is not clear whether all users are affected by the outage. According to Downdetector, the outage appears to have occurred around 3 p.m to have started. Google acquired Fitbit in early 2021.
