Microsoft says Sony handheld will cost up to $300
Microsoft has left a footnote in a court document saying that Sony plans to release a PS5 handheld later this year with a price of up to $300. This probably refers to Project Q, a streaming device that Sony showed off last month.
Author Stephen Totilo of Axios noted the footnote. It states that Sony would like to release the handheld later this year for a price of up to $300. Microsoft calls it a “handheld version of the PlayStation 5” in the FTC document. That’s not quite what Project Q is, as that device streams games from a PS5 via Remote Play.
It is unknown why Microsoft would know the price of the device and how it obtained that information. It often happens that there are new details in court documents. The FTC’s case against Microsoft concerns its planned acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.
Sony showed off Project Q last month. The handheld consists of an 8″ LCD screen with handles, sticks and triggers on both sides that resemble the Dualsense controller. Sony itself did not mention the price of the device.
