Rumor: Intel Arrow Lake CPUs get 50 percent more L2 cache per P-core
Intel may equip its upcoming Arrow Lake processors with 3MB L2 cache per P-core. That’s a fifty percent increase over the current Raptor Lake series. The Arrow Lake CPUs should be released next year.
The Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop processors get according to Bilibili user Golden Pig Upgrade 3MB L2 cache for each Performance core, commented @9550pro. Golden Pig Upgrade has shared accurate Intel rumors in the past. These processors therefore have significantly more L2 cache than their predecessors. The current Raptor Lake generation has 2MB L2 cache per P-core. The P-cores in the 2021 Alder Lake chips each had 1.25MB L2 cache. Rocket Lake had 512kB L2 per core.
It is not known how many cores the Arrow Lake series will have. If the maximum amount of P-cores remains unchanged compared to Raptor Lake, the chips would get a total of 24MB L2 cache, spread over eight cores. It is unknown how much L3 cache the Arrow Lake series will get. The amount of cache for the more energy-efficient E-cores is also still unknown.
The Arrow Lake series is scheduled for 2024. Intel is expected to release desktop and laptop processors in that series. The processors will have a chiplet-like structure with tiles and a new socket: LGA1851. This year, Intel will also introduce a similar Meteor Lake architecture, although those processors will only appear in laptops.
