CEO X: users will soon be able to make video calls with each other

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of social media company X, has indicated that users will soon be able to make (video) calls via the platform. It is not yet clear when the functions will actually be available.

Yaccarino made the announcement during an interview with the American news channel CNBC. The CEO of X also stated that users do not have to exchange telephone numbers to use the function.

Last month it emerged that work was being done on a (video) calling functionality in X, the social media company that until recently was known as Twitter. An employee of the social media platform then shared a screenshot showing a user’s chat conversation with a phone icon at the top right. There is also an image of two users making a video call. The employee who shared the screenshots stated that users will also be able to determine who can call them via X and who cannot.
