Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco have announced Little Nightmares III. For the first time, the game will have an option to play with others via online co-op. Little Nightmares III will be released next year for consoles and PC.

Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco announced Little Nightmares III of a trailer during gamescom in Cologne. The game introduces two new playable characters, Low and Alone. Gamers can play the game together via online co-op. It is not known whether the game will also have local co-op. Little Nightmares III can also be played alone; in that case, the second character is controlled by AI.

In the game, players are trapped in The Spiral, a ‘cluster of disturbing places’, and must escape from it. Along the way they have to solve puzzles and encounter new enemies: for example, the trailer shows a gigantic baby.

This time Little Nightmares III is being developed by Supermassive Games, known for Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry. The original studio behind Little Nightmares, Tarsier, announced last year that it was done with the franchise. However, Bandai Namco was allowed to continue making new games in the franchise. Supermassive Games previously worked on the series; the company released an Enhanced Edition of Little Nightmares II in 2021.
