Intel’s upcoming LGA1851 platform will reportedly no longer support DDR4 memory, but only DDR5. The socket should also be supported until 2026. LGA1851 will be released next year, together with Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop processors.

Well-known leaker @momomo_us recently reported that Intel’s Arrow Lake series and socket LGA1851 only support DDR5 memory, also notes VideoCardz. According to the leaker, the platform will be available in the second half of next year. Intel previously confirmed that Arrow Lake will be released in 2024. This year, Intel is expected to release a refresh of its existing Raptor Lake CPUs.

According to leaker @leaf_hobby LGA1851 is also supported until 2026. This means that the platform may last three CPU generations. Normally Intel releases two generations per socket, although the current socket LGA1700 will also get three CPU generations, given the alleged arrival of the upcoming Raptor Lake refresh.

The leaker reports in other tweets that Arrow Lake processors may receive additional L3 cache for the integrated GPU, which is on a separate chiplet in the processor. The @leaf_hobby also confirms that Arrow Lake will get 3MB L2 cache per P-core, which was previously rumored. According to the leaker, the information has not yet been fully verified, but his or her source previously shared corrective information.

The Arrow Lake series is scheduled for 2024. Intel is expected to release desktop and laptop processors in that series. The processors will have a chiplet-like structure with tiles. This year, Intel will already be introducing a similar Meteor Lake architecture, although those processors will only appear in laptops.
