Rumor: id Software announces Quake II remaster next week
Id Software is reportedly announcing a Quake II remaster next week. That should happen during QuakeCon in Texas, which starts on August 10. Indications have previously appeared that a Quake II remaster is coming for consoles and PC.
The reliable Spanish leaker billbil-kun claims id Software makes the announcement during a presentation at the QuakeCon trade show, also noted VGC. Details about the remaster are not yet known, but according to the leaker the game will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The game would also immediately appear on Xbox Game Pass upon release.
The remaster has not yet been officially announced, although it was previously published by a South Korean inspection authority. No concrete details about the remaster are known yet. Id Software previously released a remaster of the first Quake game. In addition to improved online functionality, that version also had 4k and widescreen support. The first remaster was also announced during QuakeCon.
