Activision’s anti-cheating software Ricochet reports banned cheater in-game

The Ricochet anti-cheat software for the PC versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will now report in-game when a cheater has been banned. This way, players immediately know that the cheater is no longer present.

Mentioning the removal of cheaters in the kill feed ensures that other players immediately know that the coast is now safer. Players who were previously killed by the exiled person also immediately recognize that they could do nothing about it. The report is also a direct way to provide feedback to players who have reported a cheater.

The technique in question is one of many ways that Team Ricochet, the company behind kernel-level anti-cheating software, wants to make it harder for cheaters to cheat. At the end of June, for example, the developer released new ‘mitigations’ that caused suspected players to ‘hallucinate’ and were disadvantaged and hindered in their gaming options in other ways.

Starting in Season 05, the kill feed will notify lobbies when #TeamRICOCHET and it’s systems have removed a problem player from the game.
