AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D laptop processor with 128MB L3 cache appears online

Details of an ASUS ROG laptop with an unannounced Ryzen 7000X3D processor have emerged early. This Ryzen 9 7945HX3D will be the first laptop CPU that has 3D V-Cache. The processor should therefore have 128MB L3 cache.

A first reference to the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D appeared on the Chinese social medium Weibo, noted hardware leaker 9550pro. The processor gets 16 Zen 4 cores for a total of 32 threads. The CPU has 3D V-Cache and therefore has 128MB of L3 cache. The current Ryzen 7045HX series without stacked 3D V-Cache has 64MB L3 cache. Further details about the new X3D laptop processor are not yet known.

The laptop containing the CPU has now also appeared at a British online store, noted VideoCardz, among others. This is an ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 laptop. This laptop has a 17.3″ screen, 32GB DDR5 memory, 2TB of SSD storage and a 90Wh battery. The ROG Strix Scar 17 also has an RTX 4090 laptop GPU. The laptop costs £ 3904.79, which converts to approximately 4519 euros. It is not known whether this will be the final price; it could also be a placeholder.

AMD has not yet officially announced the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. It would be the first X3D laptop processor with 3D V-Cache. Such processors receive an additional 64MB of L3 cache stacked on top of the regular CPU dies. The company introduced this feature in the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and released three Ryzen 7000 desktop processors with 3D V-Cache earlier this year.
