Google has released ChromeOS M115. Thanks to the update, it becomes possible to stream apps from certain Android smartphones. The update also includes a redesign of the Shortcuts view and a PDF signing feature.

App streaming is limited to Google Pixel 4 devices and all newer Pixel smartphones running at least Android 13 for now. Google writes that the Xiaomi 12T, 12T Pro, 13 and 13 Pro can also do app streaming. At least, if these devices have Android 13. It is currently unclear whether the functionality will also come to other Android devices.

If you want to stream apps, you must connect the Android smartphone and the Chromebook to the same WiFi network and place both devices close to each other. The Phone Hub App must also be active on the Chromebook device. Some Wi-Fi connections do not currently support streaming apps, according to Google. In such cases, the ‘Share data connection’ function between the Android smartphone and the Chromebook can be used to get the function working.

Google ChromeOS M115 will be rolled out to users in the coming days and weeks, according to Google. The company reports that not all users will see the update appear immediately.
