Instagram Threads reaches milestone of 100 million users
Instagram’s Twitter clone Threads has reached the milestone of 100 million users in five days. This makes it the online service that has reached this milestone the fastest so far. The previous record was held by ChatGPT.
Instagram Threads took five days to reach 100 million users, reports The Verge. ChatGPT needed two months for this. The big difference is that Threads is linked to Instagram and users can log in to Threads via Instagram. ChatGPT was available worldwide at the same time; Threads does not officially work in the EU, because the company is still investigating whether Threads complies with European regulations.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has already shown himself to be happy with how the release went. “But we don’t even know yet if this thing is permanent. It’s also important that we have perspective on what matters in the long term.”
Instagram released Threads early last week after Twitter imposed limits on how many tweets logged in users could read. Threads will receive new features in the near future, including support for ActivityPub.
