Overclocker reaches 4GHz on a video card for the first time
For the first time, an overclocker has succeeded in running a video card at more than 4GHz. The overclocker, with the username Splave, did this with an unreleased ASUS RTX 4090 card
Splave achieved 4005MHz according to the listing on HWBot. He used the GPUPI benchmark, with which the graphics card must calculate pi. This relatively light workload allows the card to clock higher than under heavier loads. The cooling was done with liquid nitrogen and the card reported a temperature of -34 degrees Celsius.
The card in question is an ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Matrix, which is not yet out to the general public, notes Videocardz. The previous milestone of 3GHz was three years ago, when a setup with the RTX 2080 TI reached that speed. The RTX 4090 was already released last year.
