Apple has placed smaller batteries in the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus than in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from last year. This is according to information from the Chinese inspection body Tenaa. According to Apple, the battery of the iPhone 8 lasts “about the same long” as that of the iPhone 7.

According to Tenaa, the iPhone 8 has a battery capacity of 1821mAh, while the listing of the iPhone 8 Plus shows a battery capacity of 2675mAh. That is about 7 percent smaller in both phones than the predecessors, because the iPhone 7 has a 1960mAh battery, while that of the 7 Plus has 2900mAh on board.

It is unknown whether this leads to a shorter battery life. The manufacturer claims that the battery life is about the same. The listing also reveals the size of the working memory of both new phones. The iPhone 8 has 2GB and the Plus variant has 3GB. That is in both cases the same size as with the predecessors.

Apple announced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on Tuesday, along with the iPhone X. The 8 and 8 Plus have a glass back to enable wireless charging via the Qi standard and also have a new Apple A11 Bionic soc.
