Google integrates Street View images into Earth VR

Google has updated its Google Earth VR app with 360-degree Street View images. Users of an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift can see images in the app that have been made by Google itself and by others.

Thanks to the update, Google Earth VR users will be able to go to locations on Earth, move to the Earth’s surface and see with a controller whether a Street View view is possible. Earth VR indicates this by means of a menu with a sphere, which can be ‘entered’ in vr to display the panorama image of that location.

Google claims that images from 85 countries are incorporated into Earth VR, not only taken by the Street View team but also shared by other users of the service. The app is available for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Google has a separate Street View app for its own Daydream and Cardboard mobile platforms.
