Acer’s new gaming PCs include up to Core i9 and four RX Vega GPUs
Acer presents new gaming PCs at the IFA fair. The Predator Orion 9000 PCs will be equipped with Intel X299 platform CPUs. The top model gets the Core i9-7980XE with eighteen cores. There is a choice of video cards from AMD and Nvidia.
Acer will supply the Nvidia video card versions with up to two GTX 1080 Ti cards in a sli setup. The Predator Orion 9000 PCs can also be equipped with RX Vega graphics cards; Acer offers options with up to four of these cards. This is striking, because AMD currently has not yet built crossfire support into its drivers for RX Vega cards. That may well be the case when Acer’s gaming PCs hit the market early next year.
The black housing has silver accents and is equipped with RGB lighting on the sides of the front panel. The side panel has a large window, through which the components are visible. Fans with RGB lighting are optional. The Predator Orion 9000 PCs have handles and are fitted with wheels, making them easy to move around.
Acer supplies the systems with water cooling and IceTunnel 2.0. According to the manufacturer, this is an ‘advanced solution’ for the airflow, which divides the system into different thermal zones. Each part has its own tunnel to extract warm air. Metal grilles on the front and top ensure the supply of cold air. Up to five 120mm fans fit in the case.
Acer will release the Predator Orion 9000 desktops in January next year. Models with a Core i7 cpu are available from 2499 euros, for the top models with a Core i9 processor, at least five thousand euros must be paid.
Acer also shows the Predator X35, a curved 35″ monitor with a 21:9 ratio and a curvature of 1800R. The screen has a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels, a response time of 4ms and a refresh rate of 200Hz. Nvidia announced the arrival of G-Sync monitor already launched during Computex at the end of May. Acer is now announcing that the screen will be released in the first quarter of next year. It was initially planned that the monitor would be released at the end of this year. even though the Predator X27 monitor has been postponed until next year.A suggested retail price of the Predator X35 has not yet been announced.
Finally, Acer comes with a new gaming headset and mice in the Predator series. The Galea 500 headset will be released in November and costs 299 euros. Two mice will appear: the Predator Cestus 500 and Cestus 300, which will also be released in November for 90 and 60 euros respectively. The top model has a double switch with which the click resistance can be adjusted.
