Webshop puts pictures of unannounced high-end Sony Xperia smartphone online
Web store Amazon has published photos of the Sony Xperia XZ1 smartphone on product pages. Sony has not yet announced the device. According to previous rumors, the phone will have a 5.2 “screen and there may also be a Compact variant.
The product pages for the black and pink variants are still online, but Amazon has removed all photos and information. The German telecom journalist Roland Quandt of WinFuture has the photos again published via Twitter.
The Xperia XZ1 is rumored to be a Sony phone with a 5.2″ HDR screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835-soc, just like the Xperia XZ Premium, which was released this summer. The XZ1, not to be confused with the Xperia Z1 from 2013, Xperia XZ from 2016 and Xperia XZs from 2017, may also receive a smaller variant called the XZ1 Compact, which would have a 4.6-inch display with 1280×720 pixels.
Amazon also listed the price of the XZ1. That would amount to 599 British pounds. That is converted currently about 650 euros. The Compact variant is perhaps £100 cheaper than the larger version.
Sony will hold its own event next week, ahead of the IFA electronics fair in Berlin. Perhaps the Japanese manufacturer will show its latest smartphones there.
