Sony has released a beta version of firmware update 5.0 for the PlayStation 4. The update adds Family Accounts and new options for notifications, among other things. The PlayStation 4 Pro will be able to stream in 1080p resolution at 60fps via Twitch.

The innovations of the firmware update came out earlier after Eurogamer managed to get their hands on the release notes. Now Sony has published screenshots itself and put an extensive explanation online. Beta test participants can already download firmware update 5.0. It is not yet known when the final version will be available to PlayStation 4 owners.

Furthermore, the software update adds an option to disable notifications when playing videos. Notifications can now also be displayed in black or white and are shown in the Quick Menu. There will also be a Leave Party option in that menu. It is also possible to create Custom Lists, which option replaces the current Favorite Groups tab in the Friends menu.

The existing system of master/sub accounts is being adapted and should become more practical for use by families. For example, parents should be able to more easily set up PSN accounts for children with customized settings for each family member. Every family account has a Family Manager who can also promote other people in the same group to someone with the same rights.
