Huawei will present 5g smartphone with folding screen next month
Smartphone maker Huawei will present a 5g smartphone with a folding screen next month. The manufacturer announced this at its own event in the Chinese capital Beijing.
According to the live translation during the presentation, Huawei director Richard Yu said that it will be a foldable smartphone with Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 980 soc, which is also included in the Mate 20 Pro Honor View 20. It is unknown whether it will be one model or whether it will be more phones from the Chinese manufacturer.
It was already known that Huawei was working on such a smartphone, but until now the Chinese manufacturer did not want to say when the presentation would take place. Huawei usually holds a press conference on the Sunday before the start of the Mobile World Congress. If that is the case again, it would take place on Sunday 24 February. The MWC will take place from 25 to 28 February in Barcelona.
Samsung announces its foldable smartphone a few days earlier, at its own event. Oppo would also like to announce details of a folding model during the fair, but it is unknown whether this concerns an announcement or showing, for example, a concept.
Many manufacturers have already announced that they will hold an event around the telecom fair. After Samsung on February 20, LG, Xiaomi and Microsoft will hold events on Sunday, February 24, while Sony will show its new smartphones on Monday.
