Download 7-Zip 4.33 alpha 1

The developers behind the 7-Zip archiver often release betas, but they’ve never released an alpha before. In the 7-Zip forum on SourceForge that has now happened in the form of version 4.33 alpha 1. This program can handle various compression formats, but specializes in its own developed 7z format. The changelog of this release looks like this:

What’s new:

• Compressing speed and Memory requirements were increased. Default dictionary size was increased: Fastest: 64 KB, Fast: 1 MB, Normal: 4 MB, Max: 16 MB, Ultra: 64 MB.
• 64-bit version now supports 1 GB dictionary
• 7z/LZMA now can use only these match finders: HC4, BT2, BT3, BT4
• Compression ratio in Zip/GZip/Deflate in Ultra mode was increased
• Some bugs were fixed
