H+BEDV, the makers behind the free anti-virus program AntiVir, have just taken version 7.0 out of beta status and promoted the software to ‘final’. One of the first things that you notice first is that the program is now available in two flavors; the first is suitable for Windows 9x and Millennium, the other for Windows NT, 2000 and XP. In addition, appearance has changed and, of course, things have changed under the skin. AntiVir now recognizes more than 150,000 viruses and uses a new scanner that has been given the name ‘AntiVir heuristic engine 2’.
