Download 7-Zip 4.34 beta

Yesterday a new beta release of the archiver 7-Zip appeared on SourceForge. This program can handle various compression formats, but is specialized in its own development 7z format. Since version 4.31, two variants are available; one for 32-bit, the other for 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. New in this release is, among other things, that both the packing and unpacking of BZip2 now takes place in multi-threading mode. Furthermore, parties can be celebrated in Albania, because the program can now finally be used in the local language. The full changelog for this release shows the following changes:

• BZip2 compressing / decompressing now can work in multi-threading mode
• Multi-threading mode now is default for multi-processor systems
• New switch: -scs{WIN|DOS|UTF-8} specifies charset for list files. Default charset for list files is UTF-8 now.
• New localization: Albanian
