Seashore is an open source application for Mac OS X that can be used to edit images. It relies in part on GIMP’s source code for actually editing the images. Support for XCF, TIFF, PNG, JPEG and JP2000 is provided, as is read support for BMP, PICT, PDF, XBM and GIF. For an overview of all functions, we refer you to this page. The developers have released the fourth release candidate of Seashore 0.1.8 with the following changes:

Version 0.1.8 RC4:

• Removed ability to drop events (did not work as desired)
• Removed ability to delay overlay application (did not work as desired)
• Switched mouse coalescing to be on by default
• Disabled resolution selection when importing PDF documents

Version 0.1.8 RC3:

• Adds Sharpen plugin
• Adds the lasso tool
• Fixes color distortion when loading Windows Bitmaps on Mac OS 10.4
• Fixes a bug when drawing in the alpha channel of greyscale images
• Fixes a bug in the Brightness and Contrast plug-in when working with the primary or alpha channels
