Download WinPatrol 11.3.2007

BillP Studios released version 11.3.2007 of WinPatrol yesterday. In this program ‘Scotty, the Windows watchdog’ keeps an eye on the system, which should make it work faster and more stable. It detects and stops spy, ad and malware, virus attacks, malicious Internet Explorer addons and prevents homepage hijacks. In addition, a number of other things are monitored, including the processes running on the PC, the hosts file and the file extensions. In addition to the free version, there is also a paid one Plus variant which provides access to a database containing extensive information about safe and malicious programs and processes. The biggest innovation in the 2007 family, besides full support for Windows Vista, is the so-called ‘delayed start’. It starts programs that are not immediately needed a little later, so that Windows itself is available more quickly. The changelog of this release looks like this:

• Fixed bug moving Startup Folder programs to Delayed Start. Programs will now start as expected.
