OnePlus captures brand name for suspected tablet

OnePlus has registered the OnePlus Pad brand name with the European trademark office. The registration of the brand name indicates that the manufacturer would also like to release a tablet in addition to smartphones and the recent fitness tracker and smartwatch.

The OnePlus Pad appeared last Thursday in the database of the EUIPO, the trademark office of the European Union, noted MySmartPrice. The request is still pending. It only concerns the application of a brand and therefore does not state what kind of device it is and what any specs and details of that device are.

For years, OnePlus only made TVs for the Indian market and smartphones for release in Europe and Asia, among others, but this year has expanded its portfolio with a fitness tracker and smartwatch. There are no recent rumors about a tablet from OnePlus. It is clear that OnePlus will merge into sister company OPPO. ITHome reported earlier this year that OPPO would also like to release tablets. OnePlus has not commented on the brand name appearing in the database.
