Rumor: Cyanogen smartphone has fastest Snapdragon soc

A Cyanogen smartphone arrives from an unknown manufacturer with ‘normal’ dimensions and a 2.5GHz Snapdragon soc. That reports Android Police. The phone undoubtedly runs CyanogenMod, a popular custom rom for Android.

Cyanogen will announce more about its plans in the coming weeks and many details of the smartphone are therefore still unknown, say AndroidPolice. It is clear that it is not a large smartphone such as the Oppo N1, which can also be supplied with CyanogenMod.

The phone runs a Snapdragon soc with a maximum clock speed of 2.5GHz. This is probably the Snapdragon 805 announced on Wednesday. The 805 is the only soc announced so far that has a maximum clock speed of 2.5GHz.

The manufacturer that will make the phone is an unknown phone maker, the blog says. It is not clear whether it is a new company or an existing company that has not yet made any known products. The resignation of an Oppo product manager would have something to do with this. Earlier it became clear that Cyanogen was working on its own smartphones.

Cyanogen is the company that grew out of the custom rom CyanogenMod, which has been around since 2009. The company itself was founded this year. Among other things, it released a graphical installer that should make installing the rom easier for inexperienced users.
