SteelSeries introduces two 12,000 dpi esports mice
Steelseries has introduced two new gaming mice with a maximum cpi of 12,000; one for both left and right-handers and one for right-handed use. The Sensei 310 and Rival 310 are aimed at esports and are said to have 1-to-1 mouse tracking. The mice will cost 70 euros.
The mice have RGB lighting and offer an adjustable cpi range from 100 to 12,000. The Sensei 310 and Rival 310 have a maximum ips speed of 350. With the new TrueMove3 sensor used in the mice, ‘1-to-1 mouse tracking’ would be possible. According to the manufacturer, this means that the physical mouse movements correspond exactly to the movements on the screen without the need to use smoothing or angle snapping. According to Jeff Chang, product manager at Steelseries, these techniques cause inaccurate movements and extra latency. The 1-to-1 tracking is possible up to a cpi of 3500. The TrueMove3 sensor, which Steelseries developed with PixArt, is used for the first time in the new e-sports mice.
The Rival 310 is made for right-handed use while the Sensei 310 can be used with the left or right hand. The mice have mechanical switches and have a built-in 32-bit ARM CPU with which, among other things, button and color settings can be saved. The mouse is currently already sold on the Steelseries website for a suggested retail price of 70 euros; it is still unknown when it will be offered through other sales channels.
While most people still use dots per inch as a measure of the sensitivity of a mouse sensor, some manufacturers like Steelseries use counts per inch, which would be a more accurate term.
