Twitter launches a subscription service for promoted tweets
Twitter is introducing a new revenue model. In the long term, customers should be able to advertise with their Twitter messages for a fixed amount per month. For now, only a limited beta version has been made available.
A Twitter user named Matt Navarra discovered Twitter’s new advertising model. For $99 per month, advertisers can choose to automatically showcase their Twitter posts in the form of promoted tweets. Euro prices for the service are not yet known, and Twitter is giving the first thirty days free during the beta period. It is possible to cancel the subscription at any time.
The new ad system has not been widely publicized, probably because it is still in beta. After a user subscribes, it takes five business days for each tweet to be automatically promoted to promoted tweet. As a result, these messages have a greater reach among Twitter users. The customer then receives a report every two weeks stating how many users have been reached with the messages placed.
With the subscription system, Twitter has a new revenue model for promoted tweets. The company behind the social networking site has been struggling with disappointing business results, declining revenues and stagnating user growth for some time now.
