Billion people use WhatsApp every day

WhatsApp has a billion daily users, reports the service. The number of users of parent company Facebook also continues to grow, although that growth is leveling off. Facebook has 1.32 billion daily users.

Breaking the one billion daily users barrier comes a year after WhatsApp reported having one billion monthly users. WhatsApp users send 55 billion messages every day, according to the service. Sharing photos and videos is also popular: WhatsApp users send each other 4.5 billion photos and a billion videos per day.

Parent company Facebook also continues to grow. The number of daily users rose 17 percent from last year to 1.32 billion and the number of monthly users grew to 2 billion, as announced at the end of last month. This means that 66 percent of monthly users also visit the social network daily. Messenger now has 1.2 billion monthly users.

The number of Instagram users also increased. More than 700 million people use the service and 375 million of them use the Direct messaging feature. The Stories service is used by 250 million people. Facebook’s revenue rose to $9.32 billion, profits were $3.9 billion, up 71 percent from the same period last year. The share of revenue from mobile advertising rose from 84 percent last year to 87 percent.
