Insider testers will soon get test build unannounced Windows 10 version
Microsoft has made it possible for users of Windows Insider’s Fast Ring to receive test builds of an unannounced next version of Windows 10 soon. You can do that with a toggle in the settings.
Microsoft is calling the feature Skip Ahead and with it testers will receive builds of the Windows version after the upcoming Fall/Autumn Creators Update, which will be released this fall. That writes Microsoft in the Feedback hub of Windows 10. The announcement is not publicly online.
With Skip Ahead, Fast Ring testers can choose to stick with the builds of the upcoming update or jump ahead of the builds for the next Windows 10 version, which Microsoft is developing under the codename Redstone 4.
It is the first time that users have that choice. It is still unknown which features will be in the upcoming Windows version. Microsoft is releasing two major updates this year with the Creators Update and Fall/Autumn Creators Update, making it likely that Redstone 4 will be released next year.
In addition, Microsoft announced a new build of Windows 10 that includes the feature to receive links to web pages from an Android phone. Users of Chrome or another browser on Android can use the ‘Continue on PC’ option via the Share button in the browser, after which the opened web page will appear in Edge. The option requires users to install an app on their Android phone and sign in with a Microsoft account.
