Meizu announces smartphones with OLED screens on the front and back
The Chinese manufacturer Meizu has announced its smartphones Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. Both phones have a large OLED screen on the front and a much smaller OLED screen on the back. The device can then display information when the large screen is turned off.
Users can use the secondary screen, among other things, to see notifications, but also as a viewfinder to take a selfie with the cameras on the back of the device, according to the announcement in a stream of tweets from Meizu. In addition, the screen can show buttons to control music. It is a 2″ OLED screen with an unknown resolution. It was previously rumored that it was an e-ink screen, but that turns out to be incorrect.
At the front is a regular OLED screen with a diagonal of 5.2″ or 5.7″. Meizu has equipped the devices with a MediaTek Helio X30-soc, a decacore that the Chinese processor maker has made at 10nm. It has two Cortex A73 processor cores and eight Cortex A53 cores, combined with a PowerVR GPU from Imagination. The price and release date of the devices are still unknown.
