Andy Rubin, former Google CEO and current head of the Essential Phone project, said in an email that his Essential Phone will be in the hands of customers within weeks. The release of the smartphone has already been delayed several times.

Rubin has sent the email to everyone who has pre-ordered the Essential Phone. That message is in the hands of CNET, among others. Originally, the Essential Phone was supposed to hit the market on June 6, just days after its initial unveiling. However, this date was not met and now the phone should hit the market sometime in August. No details are known about the European release yet. The phone can be purchased in the US from multiple telcos as well as separately from Essential itself.
