Louis Vuitton releases $2,450 Android Wear smartwatch

Fashion brand Louis Vuitton releases a smartwatch with a price starting at $ 2450. Converted with VAT about 2600 euros. The Tambour Horizon runs on Android Wear 2.0 and has the same hardware as cheaper smartwatches from electronics manufacturers.

According to Engadget, the watch has a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100-soc, a 1.2 “OLED screen with a resolution of 390×390 pixels, 512MB memory and 4GB storage space. There is a built-in 300mAh battery on which the watch should be able to work for a day. A sensor for measuring heart rate is missing, but many Android Wear watches from other brands do have one.

The 42mm watch case has a thickness of 12.5mm and is made in Switzerland according to The New York Times. The design is based on the Tambour watches that the fashion brand has been making for fifteen years. The watch case is available in grey, black and brown and there are sixty different watch straps available. Half of it is for women and the other half for men.

The watch runs on Android Wear 2.0 and Louis Vuitton provides the watch with many of its own watch faces. Apps are also installed on it, such as My Flight and City Guide. The apps are supposed to help the wearers of the watches at airports and during city trips. Prices start at $2450 for the steel version. A black model is available from $2900. Whether and when the watches will also be sold in Europe and at what price has not yet been announced.
