Recently, the seventh test build of the next generation of the instant messaging program Miranda IM has been released. Miranda IM is open source and supports a wide range of networks, including ICQ, IRC, MSN, AIM, Jabber and Yahoo. The program is ‘out-of-the-box’ a bare-bones and very light program, but the functionality can be expanded with a large number of add-ons. The appearance can also be completely adjusted to your own taste. Build 7 is probably the most stable version available for now. Soon the program will be heavily tinkered with, which will probably lead to a series of interesting, but less stable releases. Below are the changes the program has undergone since its previous entry in the junk tracker:

Build 7 accumulates a horde of recent fixes made to almost all plugins & protocols: IcqOscarJ, MSN, Jabber, tabSRMM, Scriver etc.

Also, I have to say that build 7 is the last more-or-less-stable nightly build of 0.8 for a relatively long while. In the next build, which can be delayed for maybe two weeks, the core with new protocols will be introduced, and it will cause compatibility problems. We’ll try to do our best, but… I recommend to backup this build and use it when you’ll have troubles. Miranda IM v0.8.0 Build #6

In build 6 all netlib replacements were completely disabled. Two affected plugins, Traffic counter & Console, were accommodated to new changes in the core, and are available here:

• traffic counter (Unicode and ANSIA versions);
• console (Unicode and ANSIA versions).

Also, as usual, there were many changes:

• a portion of fixes for tabSRMM & Scriver plugins;
• numerous fixes and additions for MSN & Jabber protocols;
• some fixes for clist_modern plugin.

Miranda IM v0.8.0 Build #5

A few improvements & bug fixes were included into build 0.8.0.5:

• grouping & popup menu were added to hotkeys;
• very important bug was fixed in ICQ, which could prevent contacts from being uploaded to the server;
• some fixes for AIM, Jabber & MSN protos;
• a few fixes inside the core.
