Download Skype for Mac 2.7.0.257

A new version of the Mac OS X client of the voip program Skype was released on Wednesday with version number 2.7.0.257. The download is exactly 34MB, but this is a so-called Universal Binary. The developers have not been idle since the previous release, which is already two and a half months old. The changelog of this release shows a large list of changes and improvements:

Improvements:

• Optimized quick filtering history
• Improved connection speed to Skype network from restrictive network environment
• Improved stability and quality of video

Changed:

• Added (myspace) emoticon
• Added error message for SkypeOut error #1102
• Default destination folder of file transfers changed from Desktop to Downloads
• If there is a pending file transfer then after restarting Skype that pending file transfer will be focused in the file transfer window
• New 512px volume icon or dmg
• Switched icons in the dmg background image
• Localizations updated

Bug fixed:

• Skype crashes sometimes when ending video call on Leopard
• First video call sometimes produced green picture
• Skype crashed when moving send video windows on Leopard

• Chat button was not working in the “Contact was already added” window

• Name was missing for SkypeOut Address Book contacts in SMS chats
• No error message when new password was the same as the old one
• Opening chat window was very slow at startup
• Skype crashed when clearing chat topic with backspace and then pressing enter
• Chat window emoticons pop-up was sometimes shown in wrong Space on Leopard
• SkypeOut credit was shown as FREECALL1.0 for newly created accounts
• No scrollbar appeared in the SMS entry field
• Sometimes contact was still shown in contact list after being removed from contacts
• Sometimes Skype crashed when the number of missed events changed
• Start Conference Call: multiple selected contacts were not added
