On Wednesday, a new beta release of version 2.0 of Google’s web browser was released in Google Chrome’s Dev channel. The new version can here as a web installer for Windows XP and Windows Vista and takes up 500 kilobytes of disk space. Chrome opens each tab in its own process, which can be used as a desktop application. Furthermore, the web browser is equipped with its own Javascript engine. New in this release is the possibility to use web fonts. Furthermore, it is possible to change the location where Google Chrome stores its temporary files from the command line. Google Chrome’s Dev channel has been updated to 2.0.162.0. Thanks to work done in WebKit, Google Chrome can use web fonts (read more about it here), including dynamic fonts for complex scripts. If you are a web developer this is huge news for you.

  • Command line switch for the location of the disk cache.

Known Issues:

  • Some sites in right-to-left languages ​​like Hebrew and Arabic crash the renderer
