A new beta release of version 2.3 of Rainmeter has been released. This program can display all kinds of useful and less useful information on the desktop in real time, such as free hard drive space, network activity and whether there is new email. Functional applets can also be used to, for example, make notes or send tweets. New in version 2.3 is the framework with which the plugins are created. This includes improved performance and new functionality, such as dynamic variables. In release 1203 we find the following changes and improvements:

Added:

• Formulas now allowed in additional settings.
• Manage/About dialogs: Support for keyboard shortcuts and commands.

Fixed:

• Fixed crash when Rainmeter.exe bang arguments did not contain the config parameter.
• !EnableMeasure bang: Fixed crash when measure is not found.
• !WriteKeyValue bang: Fixed that formulas didn’t work.
• Installer: Improved administrative rights detection.
• Window message API: Partly broken since, fixed.

Changed:

• RecycleManager plugin: Greatly reduced CPU usage.
• Network statistics now saved every two minutes (instead of every minute).
• WebParser.dll: Updated to new plugin API.
• RecycleManager plugin: Removed support for Drives option.
