Download Caliber 0.9.00

Version 0.9 of Caliber was released on Friday. Caliber is an open source and cross platform ebook management program. Among other things, it can copy e-books to and from readers and convert them to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. It can also convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds to e-book format, and books can be purchased from well-known web stores.

Version 0.9 does not really contain new features, but should be seen as a milestone to round out the new features introduced over time in version 0.8, such as an improved e-book reader, support for Android devices and a portable implementation of the programme. The changelog also lists the usual amount of bug fixes and new or improved access to magazines.

Bug Fixes

• KF8 Output: Fix handling of & < and > entities in the text. They were sometimes being incorrectly unescaped.
• Caliber portable: Add a manifest to the portable installer exe to prevent the application compatibility wizard from warning about a possible failed installation on windows 7. Also fixes installer requiring admin privileges on some computers
• EPUB metadata: Fix book producer not being set when updating EPUB metadata
• EPUB metadata: Fix incorrect namespace on the role attribute oftags when updating the metadata in EPUB
• Get Books: Fix incorrect price retrieval from ebooks.com.
• MTP windows driver: Fix main memory and storage card sometimes swapped
• PDF Output: On windows, remove any embedded fonts before generating the PDF as on windows, Qt generates image based PDFs when embedded fonts are present.
• MTP windows driver: Do not try to connect to unsuitable devices such as the iPhone.
• KF8 Input: Handle files that use non ascii paths/anchor names in the guide entries.
