Download NewsBin Pro 6.00 build 913 beta 10

The development of NewsBin Pro version 6.00 has arrived at the tenth beta release. This program is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. In version 6.0, among other things, the user interface has been overhauled; it now uses tabs. There is also a Cache to Memory option which, if a machine has ample memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. However, on machines with fewer resources, this can be turned off better. Version 6.00 is now as good as ‘feature complete’, so that now mainly the flat ironing of the folds is being worked on. The beta 10 changelog looks like this:

• Implemented ability to find files in the Download, Wish, Failed, and Files lists
• Database insertion process can be either in the background or shown in download list. Setting is
• in Options/Switches. It defaults to updating in the download list
• Changed the minimum header update interval from 60 minutes to 15 minutes
• Fixed issue where Newsbin will crash if there is no filters.db3 file in the newsbin data folder
• Fixed issue where Internet Search error wasn’t popping up when it should.
• Some changes to improve reliability
• Fixed issue in AutoPAR where if it found an existing file on disk that was empty, it was treating it like a good file.
• Fixed issue with Automode when doing foreground header downloads.
• Reworked how logging works internally. May have been causing crash problems.
• Fixed issue adding posts to custom lists from a post list.
• Manual unrar now follows the user set unrar path or the default unrar path from the options.
• Forcing a download (ie bypassing filters) when using Download to Folder is now optional.
• Fixed issue where the status text in the post list wasn’t changing when you add items to the download list
• Now keeps focus on the Groups tab when opening new post lists
• If you right click on a group to view posts, focus now jumps to the post list that is opened.
• Repair and unrar progress has been improved
• When a par downloads, it now checks the current download path for matching files that already exist instead of renaming them out of the way.
• The Delete All Posts from Poster confirmation screen was not hiding if confirmations was disabled.
• Got custom shortcuts working. Like “Delete all Posts from Poster”.
• Fixed issue where selection count/size in the Status Bar wasn’t including expanded files.

Upgrade NOTE:

Version 6 has a new storage format for headers. You have to manually invoke the conversion if you want to bring your 5.5x headers into V6. A new spool folder, SPOOL_V6 will be created for storing headers. To invoke the conversion, select a group or a bunch of groups in the Groups tab, right-click and select Post Storage, then choose “Import Version 5.XX Headers”. A progress screen will pop up and you’ll have to wait for it to finish before continuing.
