Alwil Software has released a new stable version of Avast Antivirus 6.0. The program is available in the free Avast Free Antivirus and the paid Avast Pro Antivirus versions. In addition, there is Avast Internet Security, which includes a firewall and anti-spam as extras. Version 6.0 includes improvements to the sandbox, a browser plug-in called WebRep, which can indicate a website’s reputation, and SafeZone, a virtual environment for sensitive transactions. The main improvements in this update are listed below.

Most notable improvements include:

• Solved a problem in aswSP.sys that could lead to a system crash
• Improved tolerance for corrupted installations
• When updating from a previous version of avast Pro/IS, SafeZone is now automatically added
• Solved a compatibility problem with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro

• Fixes in Chrome WebRep plugin
• behavior Shield: improved compatibility with other applications
• Improvements in the CommunityIQ submission system
• Various performance and compatibility improvements
