Download VMware Fusion 8.1 build 3272237
VMware has released version 8.1 of Fusion. Fusion is to OS X what Workstation and Player are to Windows and Linux. The program makes it possible to create virtual machines on an OS X machine equipped with an Intel processor. In this way it is possible, for example, to run Windows, Linux or Solaris alongside the existing operating system. In version 8.0, support for Windows 10, OS X El Capitan and various Linux distributions has been added. Furthermore, entering and exiting the sleep mode is faster and USB 3.0 can now also be used under Windows 7. In version 8.1, the following problems have also been resolved:
Resolved Issues
- When creating a new virtual machine, if you select a Windows 10 version 1511 ISO file in the New Virtual Machine Wizard, the wizard says “Windows 10 detected. The operating system will use Easy Install”. But in the next step, the “Version of Windows to install” dialog box only displays options for Windows Server 2012 R2.
- When you run Fusion in Full Screen view with multiple monitors, unplugging a monitor causes Fusion to crash
- When you run Microsoft Excel 2013 on a Windows 10 virtual machine, the application responds to your input with a one-second delay.
- Using USB devices with a virtual machine on an OS X 10.11 host might cause the virtual machine to crash
- When you access a non-English language virtual machine using Virtual Network Computing (VNC), the keyboard layout of the guest operating system differs from the keyboard layout of the host, and the documented fix for this in VMware KB 1004815 does not work.
- When a UAS device that is connected to a USB 3.0 port on a Mac OS X 10.9 or later host is connected to the guest, the device might fail to successfully connect to the guest. The device might appear as connected in the removable devices list, viewable by selecting VM > Removable Devices, but the guest operating system might fail to recognize the device.
- Reverse DNS lookup does not work in a virtual machine when a dnsmasq server is installed and configured on the Mac host
- Copying a large file between a USB storage device and an OS X virtual machine might stall and fail
