Sony is working on three films and seven TV series based on PlayStation games
Movie company PlayStation Productions has three films and seven TV series based on PlayStation games in development. An Uncharted film has been in the works for years and a The Last of Us series is in the works, the other titles have not yet been announced.
Tony Vinciquerra, the boss of Sony’s film division, cited the number of three films and seven series on the American TV channel CNBC, Mediapost writes. He did not provide any further details, it is not clear which films and series Sony has in development and when they will be released.
These are projects of PlayStation Productions, a studio that was founded last year with the aim of making films and series based on PlayStation games. Sony has been working on an Uncharted film for much longer, which has been postponed several times, but should be released by the end of 2021. Sony also has a Metal Gear Solid film in production, but the rights to those games do not belong to PlayStation and it is not clear whether this film falls under the three productions mentioned.
In November it was announced that a series about The Last of Us is in the works that will be shown on pay channel HBO. PlayStation Productions is involved in this. According to Vinciquerra, six other series based on PlayStation games are in the works, but it is unclear what they are based on.
