Update provides rally game WRC 9 with 120fps mode on Xbox Series X and PS5
Developer KT Racing has added a 120fps mode to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of rally game WRC 9. The game runs in 1080p resolution. A high quality 4k option with 30fps has also been added in addition to the existing 60fps option.
The next-gen enhancements come in the December Update for WRC 9, which is available on all platforms and also includes new rally cars and environments. On Reddit, the developer lists the improvements and indicates the resolution and frame rate with which the different console versions can be played.
WRC 9 was released earlier this year and already had improvements for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5; the game ran on those consoles in a dynamic 4k resolution with a frame rate of 60fps. After the December update, gamers can choose a performance mode in which the game runs at 120fps, but the resolution drops to 1080p.
There is now also a High Visual Quality mode for both consoles in which the game runs at native 4k resolution, with a frame rate of 30fps. The Xbox Series S version of the game will not get a 120fps mode. On that console, the game was already running in 1080p resolution at 60fps. The update does bring the High Visual Quality mode to the Series S version, which runs in 1440p at 30fps.
WRC 9 was released for consoles and PC in September. The PC version is available from the Epic Games Store. The game is made with an official license from the FIA World Rally Championship, owned by publisher Nacon. Codemasters will receive the license from 2023.
