New version Google Home app supports Matter
Google releases a new version of its Home app with support for smart home standard Matter. The company has announced that. There will also be a new interface for cameras that comes from the defunct Nest app.
The idea is that Android phones will automatically detect Matter devices and start setup thanks to the support in the Home app. Matter support will be added to the app later this year when the new version is released on the Play Store. It’s just a preview for now.
There will also be a mini media player to control audio devices from the Home app. The camera experience from the Nest app also comes to Home. This should make it easier to find the important moments between images. In the interface, the software also marks those using algorithms. In addition, support for older Nest cameras will be coming next year, something that is now missing from the Home app.
The interface also makes it possible to create Spaces with thematic arrangement of smart home devices. For example, all security cameras or devices that have to do with pets are in one place. In addition, the app can open on a favorite part, such as the camera feed of the doorbell or camera. The app is available in preview now and will be released as an update to the current Home app later this year.
