Tesla releases update for Model 3 that shows higher range
Tesla has released an update for the Model 3, the main innovation being showing a higher range. Although more kilometers can not be driven on the battery, showing the higher range should be a better reflection of the battery capacity.
This is software version 2020.48.12, which is already being offered to owners of the Model 3. After installing the software, the car shows a slightly higher range than before. This is evident from the release notes that Tesla has released, Electrek discovered.
This is not about an efficiency improvement that allows more kilometers to be driven; the update only ensures that the range shown better matches what the battery actually has left in capacity.
Early this year increased Tesla all the ‘real’ range of the Tesla Model 3; the 2021 version of the car can run slightly more mileage on the battery than the 2020 version. According to CEO Elon Musk, this was possible due to a series of small hardware improvements that have been added in recent times.
