Kalypso Media postpones Tropico 6 to March 29
German Limbic Entertainment, the studio behind Tropico 6, will receive two months extra from publisher Kalypso Games to tinker with the strategic game. The game will be released on March 29 for Windows, OS X and Linux. Versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will follow later.
Simon Hellwig, director of publisher Kalypso Media, explains in an open letter to fans of the series why he thinks Tropico 6 should be two months longer. Hellwig states that he has played the game a lot in recent weeks and was not completely convinced. He liked the game, but not enough and wants to give developer Limbic Entertainment extra time.
Hellwig isn’t the only one to criticize the game. There was also a closed beta test at the end of 2018 from which the necessary feedback came and Limbic Entertainment will have two months to process that feedback as much as possible. Tropico 6 was supposed to be released on January 25, but is now on the market on March 29. First for Windows, OS X and Linux. The game will also be released this summer for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Tropico 6 is a city builder set in the Caribbean in which the gamer is El Presidente, a dictator who tries to keep his subjects in line. However, El Presidente is not all-powerful; only if he manages to keep the people happy can he stay in power and expand his empire. Limbic uses Unreal Engine 4, making it possible for the first time in the series to expand the empire across different islands.
