Twitter has started testing Spaces audio chat feature
Twitter has started testing its new Spaces chat feature. In it, users can talk to their contacts by voice. Spaces creators have extensive control over who can talk in the chat rooms.
A small group of Twitter users will be able to create Spaces, Twitter says. That group is so small that Twitter employees are in direct DM contact with those people to gather feedback about the position. Everyone can come to Spaces by invitation.
Whoever starts the space can control who is allowed to speak in the group. Twitter is also working on other features, such as responses that should resemble hand gestures, live captioning of speech, sharing tweets in a Space, and the ability to report and block users within Spaces.
Twitter had previously announced Spaces, but is only now starting to test the feature. Spaces only works in the mobile apps, but not on the web. It is unknown when the feature will be available to everyone.
