Apple TV app will be released for Chromecast with Google TV in early 2021
The new Chromecast with Google TV will get an Apple TV app early next year. The app allows users to watch purchased movies and series and also provides access to the paid Apple TV + service.
Google writes that the app will first appear for the new Chomecast with Google TV, but will also be available for other devices with Android TV at a later date. The company does not report when users can expect that version.
With the Apple TV app, users can watch the movies and series that they have purchased through Apple’s platform. Users can also view the channels they have subscribed to and the Apple TV + offerings. The app is also integrated with Google’s content system. This allows the Chromecast with Google TV to make recommendations for Apple TV+ series based on users’ viewing history. Such series can also be added to the watch list on the device.
This is the second Apple service to be integrated on a Google platform in a short time. Last week, the company announced that smart speakers with the Google Assistant will receive native support for the Apple Music service. The integration with that music service only works in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan for the time being.
